Adulting: Practical Skills

Young adulthood comes with a lot of new responsibilities, decisions, and questions. Our Adulting Series is designed to help young adults grow in wisdom and confidence as they navigate everyday life with Christ at the center.

Proverbs 13:20 reminds us, “Walk with the wise and become wise.” Throughout this series, experienced members of our church family share practical wisdom and life experience to help guide young adults in key areas of life.

In this session, Ernie Kuhs, NCC’s Facilities Manager, will lead a hands-on conversation on Practical Skills for Everyday Life. With more than 15 years of general contracting experience, Ernie is truly a jack-of-all-trades who faithfully uses his skills to serve others and care for our church facility.

During this session, you’ll learn how to replace a switch, install a new outlet, remove and clean a drain trap, repair a hole in drywall, and make a quick fix to a leaking water pipe.

Even if you have no experience with home repairs, you’re warmly invited! Come ready to learn, laugh, and grow—not just in practical ability, but in community as well. As followers of Jesus, we believe even everyday skills can be used to serve others and glorify God. You’ll leave with greater confidence, useful knowledge, and a reminder that God equips us in all things. Welcome to adulthood—with a little faith, a few tools, and a lot of grace!
